Feed-In Tariff Program
The Hawaiian Electric's Feed-In Tariff ("FIT") program is designed to encourage the addition of more renewable energy projects in Hawaii. Pre-established FIT rates and standardized FIT contract terms provide an easy way for individuals, small businesses, governmental entities, or other developers to sell renewable energy to the Hawaiian Electric.

Updates
As of April 1, 2017, the FIT Independent Observer, Accion Group LLC, is no longer managing the FIT queues. The FIT program on all Islands and All Tiers are closed to new applications. Applicants with projects in active development are instructed to direct all communications to fit@hawaiianelectric.com.
The Feed-In Tariff (FIT) program is closed to new applications. On December 5, 2014 the Public Utilities commission issued Decision and Order No. 32499 in Docket No. 2013-0194 which approved the Companies’ and Independent Observer’s Joint Plan for administration of the FIT queues. Pursuant to the Order, projects in the FIT Reserve queue were removed and milestones established for the remaining projects in the FIT Active Queue.
The order stated that "future revisions or modifications to the FIT program will be addressed either in Docket No. 2014-0192, which has been established to review the HECO Companies' PSIPs". 1

Management of the FIT Application and Queuing Process
The FIT application and queuing process is managed by Hawaiian Electric in accordance with the Schedule FIT tariff and other Orders and guidance issued by the Commission.
