Hawaiian Electric and HEI employees and their ohana help to restore the abundance to Pearl Harbor by removing invasive plants, weeding and planting native plants.
Malama Puuloa is the primary program of Hui o Hoohonua (HOH808), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring Puuloa (Pearl Harbor). Since its conception in 2016, the group has lead schools, community members and other organizations with nearly 10,000 volunteers through their learning workdays at Pouhala Marsh and Kapapapuhi Point Park. Through that work, they have been able to clear over 8 acres of invasive mangrove and replace it with native plants.
