HONOLULU, Aug. 29, 2019 – Enjoy food trucks, entertainment, keiki activities, and more at the first-ever Ka Piko festival, showcasing the community of Waimanalo.

“Ka Piko: Celebrating Waimanalo” takes place 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Sea Life Park (41-202 Kalanianaole Highway #7). The family-friendly event, presented by the nonprofit Napuuomalei, will highlight the unique qualities of the Waimanalo ahupuaa through food, culture and education.

Hawaiian musical performances by Na Hoa (Keoni Souza, Ikaika Blackburn, and Halehaku Seabury-Akaka), Sean Naauao, Kulaiwi (Kawika Kahiapo, Lehua Kalima, and Shawn Pimental), and Waipuna (Kale Hannahs, Matthew Sproat, and David Kamakahi). The community-driven event also features a Farmer’s Market, specialty merchandise, food booths, educational activities for keiki, crafts, and more.

Malama Honua Public Charter School students will perform the opening protocol at the festival, Students of Ke Kula Kaiapuni o Waimanalo ma Blanche Pope, Waimanalo’s first Hawaiian Immersion School, are scheduled to perform oli and mele during the Ka Piko program.

Sponsors include Hawaiian Electric Company, Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii Community Foundation, Hawaiian TelCom, HMSA, IBEW 1260, Summit Media and Sea Life Park Hawaii.

All ages are welcome. Enjoy a $15 special discounted admission price for Sea Life Park. The event is free for Waimanalo residents with valid photo ID showing 96795 zip code.

Food, merchandise, and Sea Life Park concession stands and animal encounters/exhibits sold separately. Parking is $5 at Sea Life Park.
