Caramel Cuts

Ingredients:

Caramel Cuts

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 4 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups flour (consider using whole wheat flour)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat electric oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan until bubbling.
  4. In large bowl of electric mixer, combine hot butter and sugar; beat at medium speed until well mixed.
  5. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
  6. Sift flour with baking powder; stir into butter mixture.
  7. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
  8. Cool in pan and cut into bars while slightly warm.

Makes 2 1/2 dozen bars.
