Chocolate Pecan Pie Bars

Ingredients:

Chocolate Pecan Pie Bars

  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 square (1 ounce) semi-sweet chocolate
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon or water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon.
  3. Cut in 1/2 cup of the butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in pecans.
  5. Press into bottom of an ungreased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes.
  7. In a saucepan, heat chocolate with the remaining 1/4 cup butter over low heat until chocolate is melted.
  8. Combine remaining ingredients; slowly stir in chocolate mixture.
  9. Pour over crust.
  10. Bake 20 more minutes or until set.
  11. Cool and cut into bars.

Makes 36 bars.
