Cinnamon-Macadamia Nut Caramel Apples

Ingredients:

Cinnamon-Macadamia Nut Caramel Apples

  • 6 granny smith apples
  • 6 craft sticks
  • 1 (14 ounce) package individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup chopped Candied Macadamia Nuts* (see recipe below)

*Candied Macadamia Nuts Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chopped macadamia nuts
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Spray a cookie sheet with vegetable cooking spray.
  2. Remove the stem from each apple and press a craft stick into the top.
  3. Place caramels and milk in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute, stirring once.
  4. Microwave one more minute (2 minutes total).
  5. Remove bowl from microwave and allow to cool for 1 minute.
  6. Roll each apple quickly in caramel sauce until well coated.
  7. Roll apples in candied macadamia nuts and lay on baking sheet with stick side up to set.

Makes 6 servings.

*Candied Macadamia Nuts Instructions:

  1. Place all ingredients into a small saucepan and stir over medium-low heat until sugar dissolves and nuts are covered with melted sugar.
  2. Lay out on wax paper to cool.
