Farmhouse Soup

Ingredients:

Farmhouse Soup

Soup mix:

  • 2 tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons beef bouillon flakes
  • 1/2 cup quick cook barley
  • 1/2 cup dried split peas
  • 1/2 cup uncooked rice
  • 1/2 cup dry lentils

Soup:

  • 3 quarts water
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 medium carrots, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 2 cups diced tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 cups macaroni, uncooked

Directions:

Soup mix:

  1. Layer all ingredients in an airtight 1 quart jar.
  2. Store in a cool area until ready to use.

To make soup:

  1. In a large stock pot, add soup mix and rest of ingredients, except macaroni.
  2. Cover, bring to a boil, then simmer over medium low heat for about 1 hour, or until vegetables are tender.
  3. Add pasta 10 minutes before done simmering.
