Gelatin Cream Cheese Dessert

Ingredients:

Gelatin Cream Cheese Dessert

  • 1 package (3 ounces) lemon gelatin
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 1 package (6 ounces) strawberry gelatin
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup golden brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts
  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream, whipped

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Dissolve lemon gelatin in 1 cup of the boiling water; cool.
  3. Dissolve strawberry gelatin in the remaining 3 cups boiling water; cool.
  4. In a mixing bowl, cream butter with sugar.
  5. Gradually stir in flour; add nuts.
  6. Spread mixture evenly in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  7. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes; cool.
  8. Chill for 15 minutes.
  9. In a bowl, beat cream cheese with sugar.
  10. Mix in whipped cream.
  11. Gently stir in cooled lemon gelatin.
  12. Pour onto chilled crust; chill until firm.
  13. Pour cooled strawberry gelatin over firm lemon gelatin mixture; chill until firm.
  14. Cut into squares and serve.

Makes 18 servings.
