Glazed Fresh Strawberry Dessert

Ingredients:

Glazed Fresh Strawberry Dessert

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • Dash of salt
  • 3 1/2 cups water
  • 1 package (6 ounces) strawberry gelatin
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 4 baskets (12 ounce size) fresh strawberries
  • Whipped Cream

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cut butter into flour.
  3. Press evenly into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  4. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown; cool.
  5. In a saucepan, combine sugar,cornstarch, salt, and water.
  6. Bring to a boil; cook until mixture is clear.
  7. Remove from heat and add gelatin and vanilla.
  8. Cool.
  9. Wash and hull strawberries; drain well.
  10. Arrange berries on baked crust.
  11. Pour gelatin over berries.
  12. Chill until firm.
  13. Cut into serving pieces.
  14. Serve with whipped cream.

Makes 20 servings.
