Glazed Lemon Nut Bread

Ingredients:

Glazed Lemon Nut Bread

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Directions:

  1. Cream butter and the 3/4 cup sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs and lemon peel; beat well.
  3. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in nuts.
  5. Spoon into a well oiled 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 55 minutes.
  7. Let cool in pan 10 minutes, then spoon mixture of lemon juice and the 2 tablespoons sugar over top.
  8. Remove from pan and cool.

Makes 1 loaf.
