Groovy Brownies

Ingredients:

Groovy Brownies

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 squares (1 ounce each) semi sweet chocolate
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • Optional add-ins: 1/2 cup chopped nuts, 1 cup chocolate chips, 1 cup M&M chocolate candies, 1 cup Reese's pieces, etc.
  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows

Chocolate Frosting:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease and flour an 8 x 8-inch baking pan.
  3. In a small saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over low heat; set aside to cool.
  4. In a small bowl, beat the eggs and vanilla; add sugar gradually.
  5. Mix in the chocolate mixture, vanilla and flour.
  6. Stir in optional add-in(s).
  7. Pour into prepared pan; bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until done.
  8. While brownies are still hot, spread miniature marshmallows over top; cool.
  9. Frost with Chocolate Frosting (recipe below).

Makes 9 servings.

Note: You can double this recipe for a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

Chocolate Frosting:

  1. Place sugar, butter, and milk into a saucepan; bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute; remove from heat.
  2. Add chocolate chips and vanilla and beat until smooth.
