Kansas City BBQ Baked Beans

Ingredients:

Kansas City BBQ Baked Beans

  • 1/2 cup prepared Kansas City style barbeque sauce, substitute with your favorite bottled sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1/8 tablespoon sea salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium Maui onion, chopped
  • 2 cups chopped kale, leaves only
  • 2 cups chopped Swiss chard, leaves only
  • 9 ounces of cooked chicken or turkey sausage links, cut in 1/2-inch rounds
  • 2 15-ounce cans navy beans, rinsed and drained

Directions:

  1. Combine first six ingredients in a medium bowl.
  2. Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Add onion, kale, and chard and cook for 3-5 minutes, until greens are wilted.
  4. Add sausage and cook for 3-5 minutes until sausage is browned.

Makes 6 servings.
