- 1 stalk lemongrass
- 2 1/2 quarts water
- 1 tablespoon uncooked jasmine rice
- 1/2 lb thinly sliced top sirloin
- 4 to 8 teaspoons lime juice
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons seeded and chopped chili pepper (optional)
- 1 tablespoon Thai fish sauce
- 4 teaspoons chopped purple basil
- 4 teaspoons chopped green onions
- Freshly cooked jasmine rice
