Pepper Steak

Ingredients:

Pepper Steak

  • 1 1/2 pounds sirloin tip
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup chopped onions
  • 1 clove garlic, halved
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Dash of pepper
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 can (1 pound 13 ounces) stewed tomatoes
  • 1 green pepper, sliced in rings
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 3 tablespoons shoyu

Directions:

  1. Cut meat 1/4-inch thick in serving pieces; brown slowly in oil, adding onions and garlic last few minutes.
  2. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Dissolve bouillon cube in hot water; add to meat, and simmer 25 minutes.
  4. Add tomatoes and green pepper; cook 10 minutes.
  5. Combine remaining ingredients; stir into meat mixture.
  6. Cook 5 minutes stirring constantly, or until thickened.
  7. Serve with hot rice or noodles.

Makes 6 servings.
