Sausage Apple Rolls

Ingredients:

Sausage Apple Rolls

  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup deli-style mustard
  • Cooked sweet Italian sausage, cut into 2 1/2-inch lengths and split down the middle
  • 6 Granny Smith apples, each cut into 8 wedges
  • Quick Puff Pastry Dough, cut into 2-inch squares

Directions:

  1. Preheat electric oven to 400°F.
  2. Whisk the egg and milk together.
  3. For each sausage apple roll, brush 1/2 teaspoon mustard on the inside of a split sausage piece and place an apple wedge in the middle.
  4. Roll sausage in the puff pastry square, with the ends of the sausage protruding from both sides of the puff pastry.
  5. Brush puff pastry with the egg mixture.
  6. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes, or until puff pastry is golden brown.

Makes 48 rolls.

Note: These can be served warm as a breakfast entrée, or as cold appetizers with cheese and sliced fruits.
