Ingredients:

Siu Mai

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, peeled and minced
  • 1/2 cup green onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 20 siu mai wrappers (round dim sum skins, can be found in Chinatown noodle shops) or 1 (12-ounce) package of won ton wrappers

Directions:

  1. Mix all ingredients except the dim sum skins in a bowl.
  2. Place about 2 tablespoons of the filling on the center of each skin.
  3. Gather up the edges of the wrapper and gently pleat so that it forms a basket shape, with the top of the filling exposed.
  4. Place the siu mai into a steamer, making sure they do not touch each other or they will stick together when cooked.
  5. Steam for 20 minutes over high heat until cooked.
