Somewhere That's Green Pea Soup

Ingredients:

Somewhere That's Green Pea Soup

  • 1 1/2 to 2 pounds ham hocks
  • 7 cups water
  • 1 package (12 ounces) split peas
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme, crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions:

  1. In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, combine ham hocks and water.
  2. Cover and cook for 1 hour or until meat is tender.
  3. Remove bones and chop meat.
  4. Put meat back into soup and add remaining ingredients.
  5. Cover and cook on low heat for 1 more hour or until peas are tender.

Makes 6 servings.
