Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs

Ingredients:

Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 pounds spare ribs
  • 1/4 pound fresh ginger, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup shoyu
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons flour or corn starch mixed with 2 tablespoons water to thicken

Directions:

  1. In a large pot, heat oil; add spare ribs and ginger and brown ribs.
  2. Add sugar and stir.
  3. Add liquid ingredients and stir.
  4. Bring to boil and lower to medium heat for about 30 minutes.
  5. Simmer until meat is soft.
  6. Add thickening to desired consistency and stir.

Makes 6 servings.
