Oriental Lavosh (Armenian Flat Bread)

Ingredients:

Oriental Lavosh (Armenian Flat Bread)

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup furikake (seasoned seaweed mix)

Directions:

  1. Preheat electric oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, and butter.
  3. With a pastry blender, mix ingredients together until mixture resembles cornmeal.
  4. Add buttermilk and stir until mixture forms a dough.
  5. Add furikake; knead lightly.
  6. Form dough into 1-inch balls and lightly coat with flour.
  7. On a floured board, roll balls into paper-thin (1/16-inch) pieces.
  8. Place on baking sheets and bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

Makes 8 to 10 servings.
