Submission of Comments to the Draft Oahu Renewable Firm RFP

Although the draft Oahu Renewable Firm RFP stated that comments from stakeholders were to be filed by April 4, 2022, the Company will continue to receive comments via email to oahurenewablerfp@hawaiianelectric.com. The Commission has not yet opened a docket for the draft Oahu Renewable Firm RFP, and any updates to the RFP schedule are pending further Commission action.
Technical Status Conference

In its February 28, 2022 filing of the draft Oahu Renewable Firm RFP, the Company had anticipated that the Commission would continue its practice of holding a Technical Status Conference. The Company had tentatively indicated a date of March 14, 2022 for the Technical Status Conference in the draft RFP. However, the Company recognizes the Commission may set a different date for such conference or may forgo holding such conference altogether. The Commission has not yet indicated a date for a Technical Status Conference, but the Company will post further information on this webpage as it becomes available.

Develop Firm Renewable RFP for Oahu
February 23, 2022
On November 17, 2021, Hawaiian Electric filed its proposal to conduct a streamlined renewable firm generation RFP for Oahu in Docket No. 2021-0024.
On December 22, 2021, the Commission issued a letter recognizing receipt of the November 17, 2021 letter and provided feedback and guidance. The letter stated, “The Commission is amenable to this proposal to develop a competitive solicitation through which to review and evaluate opportunities to develop additional renewable generation, which could include allowing existing facilities to repower or fuel switch.”
