Oahu Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Siting Tool
This tool shows estimated capacity available on Hawaiian Electric's primary distribution system (e.g., 2.4 to 25 kilovolts), indicating areas where capacity may be constrained, and could require system upgrades to support additional load. Available capacity shown is an estimate of the amount of EV charging load that may be accommodated under current configurations at the distribution circuit level. The information displayed is based on data updated in May 2023.

How to use the EV Charger Siting Tool
- In the map below, navigate to the desired EV charger location by using the cursor, or by entering the location's address or GPS coordinates into the map's search field and selecting the desired location from the drop-down list that appears.
-
The color of the desired EV charger location corresponds with the estimated available electrical system capacity for the circuit feeding this location. Refer to the map's legend for the available capacity corresponding with each color.
As an example, the circuit feeding a location indicated in green may have sufficient capacity to support more than 1 megawatt (MW) of capacity, while a circuit feeding a location in yellow may have between 500 kilowatt and 1 MW of available capacity.
