Chiribira Age (Chive Fritters)

Ingredients:

Chiribira Age (Chive Fritters)

  • 3 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 /2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon dashinomoto seasoning (optional; available in the Asian section)
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 to 1 cups chiribira (chives), cut into 1-inch lengths
  • 1/2 cup agehan (deep fried fish cake), chopped (available in the Asian section)
  • Oil for frying

Directions:

  1. Combine dry ingredients.
  2. Gradually add egg and water mixture to dry ingredients.
  3. Add chives and agehan.
  4. Drop dough by tablespoonful and deep fry at 350°F until golden brown.
  5. Drain on absorbent paper towel.

Makes 25 pieces or 5 servings.
