Cornflake Dream Bars

Ingredients:

Cornflake Dream Bars

First mixture:

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour

Second mixture:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups cornflakes, slightly crushed
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Directions:

First mixture:

  1. Blend margarine and sugar thoroughly.
  2. Add flour and blend to make a crumbly mixture.
  3. Press evenly and firmly into bottom of unoiled shallow baking pan 9" x 13".
  4. Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes or until delicately browned.

Second mixture:

  1. Beat eggs well, add sugar gradually and beat thoroughly.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and blend well.
  3. Drop by spoonfuls on top of previously baked crust and spread evenly.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Cool slightly and while still warm, cut in thirds or quarters and remove from pan.
  6. Then cut each into bars or squares.

Makes 2 1/2-3 dozen bars.
