Easy Sweet-Sour Spare Ribs

Ingredients:

Easy Sweet-Sour Spareribs

  • 5 lb spare ribs, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 large green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 can (20 oz) pineapple chunks, including liquid
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons water

Directions:

  1. In a large saucepot, combine spare ribs, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic.
  2. Cover and bring to a boil.
  3. Lower heat and simmer for 45 minutes.
  4. Add onion, bell pepper, and pineapple.
  5. Continue cooking for 15 more minutes.
  6. Combine cornstarch and water; stir into spare rib mixture.
  7. Cook until mixture thickens.

Makes 8 servings.
