Flambe of Apple Bananas in Amaretto with Vanilla Ice Cream

Ingredients:

Flambe of Apple Bananas in Amaretto with Vanilla Ice Cream

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large apple bananas, peeled and diagonally sliced 1/4-inch thick
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup amaretto (almond flavored liqueur)
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Fresh mint sprigs for garnish

Directions:

  1. In a hot skillet, add butter, bananas, sugar, and cinnamon.
  2. Stir gently until butter melts and the sugar dissolves.
  3. Remove from heat and add amaretto.
  4. Flame amaretto by carefully igniting it with a long match or long nozzle lighter; allow the flame to burn itself out.
  5. To serve, spoon banana mixture into a bowl, top with vanilla ice cream and garnish with mint.

Makes 2 to 3 servings.
