Fresh Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients:

Fresh Cranberry Sauce

  • 1 pkg (12 oz) fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange liqueur or cherry brandy (optional)

Directions:

  1. Rinse cranberries, discarding over ripe berries.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine cranberries, water, and orange juice.
  3. Cover and bring to a boil; lower heat and cook for 7 to 10 minutes.
  4. Strain mixture through fine mesh strainer.
  5. Return pulp to pan; discard skins and seeds.
  6. Add sugar and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
  7. Add liquor and continue cooking for 2 to 3 more minutes.

Makes about 2 cups.
