Grass-Fed Bison Avocado Burgers

Ingredients:

Grass-Fed Bison Avocado Burgers

  • 2 pounds grass-fed bison meat, ground (available at some local grocery stores)
  • 2/3 cup shallots, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons liquid amino acids
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • Sea salt and black pepper
  • 8 sourdough rolls
  • 8 pieces Manoa lettuce
  • 1 whole avocado, peeled and sliced
  • 1 large tomato, sliced

Directions:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine meat, shallots, green onions, amino acids, mustard, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  2. Form 8 patties.
  3. Chill in refrigerator for about 20 minutes to firm up.
  4. Grill over high heat until cooked through to medium.
  5. Serve hot on a sourdough roll topped with lettuce, avocado and tomato slices.

Makes 8 servings.

Tip: Bison is one of the leanest meats, a good source of nutrients and a great alternative to beef.
