Ravani

Ingredients:

Ravani

  • 1 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 5 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup regular farina
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Syrup (see below)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease a 10 x 14 x 2-inch pan.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt butter over low heat.
  4. Add sugar and cream together with butter until light and fluffy.
  5. Beat in eggs.
  6. Stir in farina alternately with the flour.
  7. Stir in baking powder and vanilla.
  8. Pour into prepared pan; bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the cake tests done.
  9. Cut cake into squares and pour the syrup over it.

Makes 30 servings.

Syrup:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 3 cups water and 2 cups sugar.
  2. Bring to a boil and boil for 15 minutes.
  3. Cool.
