Spicy Shrimp In Shells

Ingredients:

Spicy Shrimp In Shells

  • 12 large whole unshelled shrimp
  • Cornstarch
  • Salad oil for frying
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Dash of Chinese five-spice powder
  • Dash of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onion
  • 1 red chili pepper, minced
  • 1 tablespoon wine
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce

Directions:

  1. Wash and drain shrimp; coat lightly with the cornstarch.
  2. In a wok, heat oil over high heat; fry shrimp until almost done.
  3. Drain oil; leaving shrimp in wok.
  4. Add salt, five-spice, sugar, garlic, onion, and chili pepper; pour wine around inside edge of wok and stir-fry shrimp over high heat for a few seconds.
  5. Serve on a bed of lettuce.

Makes 3 servings.
