Electrification of Transportation (EOT)

Accelerate the adoption and strategic transition of Hawaii's transportation sector from fossil fuels to electricity. Please see Chapters 5-7 for more details in our EoT Roadmap for the initiatives below.

Initiatives

EOT-01

Educate the public and promote electrification of transportation.

EOT-02

Electrify Hawaiian Electric's fleets of light, medium, and heavy duty vehicles.

EOT-03

Increase adoption by lowering the upfront costs of electric vehicles.

EOT-04

Encourage smart charging and participation in demand response programs and electric vehicle pricing to help customers lower their bills and reduce impact to the utility grid by providing grid services that support the grid.

EOT-05

Introduce new ways to expand access to electric vehicle charging in multi-unit dwellings, such as condominiums and apartment buildings.

EOT-06

Introduce new ways to expand access to electric vehicle charging in workplaces.

Introduce new ways to expand access to public charging facilities.

Increase the engagement with Hawaii's economic engine – the tourism industry – to adopt electrification of transportation.

Encourage and enable electrification of smart charging buses.

Encourage and enable electrification of medium and heavy-duty vehicles and off-road equipment as technologies mature and become commercially available at reasonable costs.
