Q:
I’m just getting started. Where do I begin?
A:

Q:
What work will the Participant need to perform?
A:
The Participant will be responsible for the selection, purchase and installation of the EV charging equipment. The Participant may also be responsible for informing the landowner and seeking appropriate approvals if applicable.
Q:
Will the charging stations be on a separate and dedicated meter if I enroll in Charge Up eBus?
A:
Yes, a dedicated meter for eBus charging is required under this pilot, and to qualify for applicable rates such as E-Bus-J and E-Bus-P, or EV-J and EV-P.
Q:
Who will own and operate the charging stations?
A:
The Participant will own and operate the charging stations and be responsible for usage and maintenance costs. Under the Pilot, the customer must maintain the charging stations for 10 years.
Q:
Who pays for the cost of energy for the charging equipment?
A:
The Participant is responsible for the cost of energy consumed by the charging equipment. All charging equipment will be on a dedicated meter.
Q:
Who is eligible for E-Bus rates?
A:
Charging under the E-Bus pilot rate is limited to electric on-road bus charging facilities with an existing commercial account under Schedule J or Schedule P. Enrollment is limited to a total of 20 eligible customer accounts on Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii Island through December 31, 2023.
Q:
Are E-Bus-J and E-Bus-P rates limited to bus charging only?
A:
Other ancillary uses, limited to 5 kW, that are related to bus charging such as area lighting are permitted. Review eBus rates for more details.
