Sun Power for Schools
Castle High School
Castle High School is the eighth school on Oahu to receive a Sun Power for Schools rooftop solar system. Installed on the rooftop of the shop building on August 18, 1999, this system produces AC current directly from each panel, and uses cellular phone technology in its data acquisition system.
System details:
- Two kilowatts (kW) rated peak
- Eight 4x6 foot AC modules weighing 122 pounds each (Manufacturer: Ascension, Type: SunSine 300)
- AC disconnection switch
- Ascension SunSine integrated inverter on each module (AC output from each module)
- Data acquisition system (Data collection can be monitored and analyzed by students as part of integrated renewable energy lessons)
