Utility work Wed., 2/26, to impact eastbound Nimitz Hwy. at Camp Caitlin Road intersection
Crews to work in manhole from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Release Date: 2/25/2025
HONOLULU, Feb. 25, 2025 – Hawaiian Electric crews will replace underground cables on Nimitz Highway at Camp Caitlin Road on Wednesday, Feb. 26, closing the two left eastbound lanes from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. as crews work in a manhole located in the intersection.
The left turn lane from Nimitz mauka-bound onto Camp Caitlin Rd. will remain open, while the makai-bound lanes on Camp Caitlin Rd. approaching Nimitz will be modified, allowing motorists only to turn right or left onto Nimitz.
Safety signs, traffic cones and arrow boards will direct motorists to the single open eastbound traveling lane along Nimitz. Flagmen also will provide onsite traffic control. Due to the nature of the work, the traffic plan may change without notice for the safety of the public and crews.
Motorists should find an alternate route if possible or drive with caution when approaching and passing the work zone and expect traffic delays in the area.
