The Birth of Maui Electric Company
On April 1, 1921, almost 30 years since the first demonstrated use of electricity's benefits on Maui, a group of business leaders met and formed a new electric company. The Maui Electric Company, Ltd. was established to provide reliable electric service to the central valley communities of Wailuku and Kahului.
